Did you know there is a place on earth where the heavens kissed the ground for the very first time?
Atop "Jacob’s Peak" in Bethel, within a quiet, modest, and primal-looking site, lies a secret of immense power—both nationally and globally: The "Jacob’s Dream" Site. Let’s travel back in time, some 3,800 years. Night descends upon the mountain, the silence is absolute, and the Patriarch Jacob, weary from his journey, rests his head upon a stone and falls asleep. Precisely there, amidst the simplicity of nature, the most famous vision in the history of the human spirit was revealed to him: "A ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it." It was not merely a dream. That night, on this very peak, Jacob was granted a promise that echoes to this day and touches every human being: "And in you and in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed" (Genesis 28:14). This is the place where history shifted course. Here, Jacob received his new and eternal name—Israel—and here the great Covenant of the Land was sealed: "The land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land." Today, thousands of visitors of all faiths ascend this peak. They do not come seeking magnificent palaces, but rather a feeling that words cannot explain: a sense of "belonging." They come to stand in that very spot, to breathe the crisp mountain air, and to strengthen their special connection to the ancient heritage and the Land of the Bible. Finally, a fascinating anecdote that will give you food for thought: Did you know that according to an ancient British tradition, the very stone upon which Jacob rested his head that night in Bethel made its way through winding paths to the United Kingdom? Known as the "Stone of Destiny" (or the Stone of Scone), legend holds that it is kept to this day in the British Royal Treasury and has been used in the coronation ceremonies of English monarchs throughout history. This story only illustrates how deeply this small, primal site in Bethel echoes across cultures worldwide.
