The Full Itinerary: Scenic, Jewish, and Christian Heritage in the Galilee
- Gateway to the Galilee – Megiddo and Caesarea: Our journey north will lead us past the ruins of Caesarea, the ancient Roman metropolis, and Biblical Megiddo, often equated with Armageddon (Revelation 16:16).
- Nazareth – City of the Annunciation: We will reach the heart of the Galilee, Nazareth, where we will visit the main sites associated with Jesus:
- The Church of the Annunciation: The largest church in Israel, believed by tradition to be built over the home of Mary, the mother of Jesus, where her miraculous pregnancy was announced to her.
- The Church of St. Joseph: The humbler church considered to be the place where Jesus grew up.
- The Market and the Synagogue Church: We will stroll through the Old City market and visit the “Synagogue Church,” where, by tradition, a synagogue stood at the time of Jesus and where he preached for the first time.
- Mary’s Well and Other Sites: We will visit Mary’s Well, the Greek-Orthodox Saint Gabriel Church, or Mount of Precipice.
- Cana – Site of the First Miracle: We will continue to Cana, the place where Jesus performed the miracle of turning water into wine at a wedding (John 2). We will review the archaeological discoveries at the “Wedding Church.”
- The Sea of Galilee Basin – Center of Activity: We will arrive at the Sea of Galilee for a lookout point, and after a lunch break (optional St. Peter’s fish meal), we will discover the holy sites around the lake:
- Capernaum: The most significant site for Christianity, where Jesus settled and laid the foundation of the Christian faith. We will visit the ruins of the ancient village, the old synagogue, and the Byzantine-era church.
- Tabgha and the Multiplication: We will visit the site of the “Miracle of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fish” (Luke 9), and nearby, the chapel marking Peter’s appointment.
- Mount of Beatitudes: We will see the magnificent gardens around the octagonal church marking the site of the “Sermon on the Mount.”
- The Sea of Galilee Boat: We will see the exceptional discovery displayed at Kibbutz Ginosar, with an option for a short Sail on the Sea of Galilee experience.
- Caesarea Philippi (Banias): A drive to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter declared Jesus as the Messiah.
- Yardenit – The Baptismal Site: We will conclude at the famous baptismal site on the Jordan River, “Yardenit.”

The Story of the Sea of Galilee: Stable Foundation and Test of Faith
Did you know that... the Sea of Galilee is much more than the national water source and a barometer of our mood? This ancient sea is a focal point of heritage and legends, holding a straight and powerful line between sustenance and foundation, and overcoming and faith. Jewish tradition tells of the Well of Miriam the Prophetess, which was concealed in the waters of the Sea of Galilee. This well, which surfaced due to Miriam’s merit, provided living water to the Israelites during their journey in the desert, ensuring that the foundation—the source of existence—would never fail. The Sea of Galilee continues to be that "well" for us today: the basis that feeds us with confidence and national resilience. It reminds us of the importance of the source and stability. On those exact same waters, one of the peaks of faith in the New Testament occurred. When Jesus calls his disciple Peter to walk toward him across the stormy Sea of Galilee. Peter momentarily succeeded in walking on the impossible water until he began to doubt. The moment he diverted his gaze from the goal and was filled with doubt, he began to sink into the threatening waves. Jesus extends his hand to him, but the lesson is engraved in stone: the ability to transcend reality and conquer the impossible requires absolute faith and the removal of all doubt. The Sea of Galilee is therefore a dual symbol: it is the essential foundation that sustains us (Miriam's Well), and it is the test of faith that pushes us to the greatest achievements (walking on water). Required Lesson and Achievement: Audacity and Stability Your life and business will always oscillate between the need for a stable foundation and the desire to achieve impossible things.
